1949 Chev Pickup Heirloom 2017  Great Eight Winner 2017 Detroit Autorama

What a fabulous custom vehicle this 1949 Chev Pickup Heirloom is, equally matches this stunning custom 49 Cadillac Empress convertible.
This pickup has been superbly crafted into the most customized vehicle you could hope to ever find and you really need to watch to video below to appreciate the workmanship and the massive hours that have been spent in achieving this brilliant result.

It won a Great Eight at the 2017 Detroit Autorama.
What we have is a pickup truck that has been widened and chopped, it is on Ridetech air suspension,  has a LS1 engine with gold leaf from the top of the blower right through to the diff.
Detailing the engine and transmission took over a 1,000 hours for starters.
The power operated hood I know from a friend of mine who did a similar set up on his car,  took weeks of experimenting to get it working right.
The leather seats have 300 hours of stitching alone in making each one.

The suicide doors would have taken some time for sure, and grafting in the ex Cadillac rear panels to make the wellside sides take some thought.
These blend in so well it is like they are original panels.
Heirloom is 5 inches wider and 4 inches longer than standard, glass is flush fit and the grill hand made to suit the width of the truck.
I have done some timber laminating but nothing like this wellside floor, it would have taken yonks just to work out the shape and pattern , let alone cutting and glueing all the strips of various timbers to get the desired effect.  No stain was used this is all timber in its natural state.
As Scottie said, “you really do need to watch this video”

Big thankyou to ScottieDTV for this report.  Photos are video screen shots
